Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. (Isaiah 45:22)

You have heard stories about people who have claimed that they were abducted by extraterrestrial beings.  As if they are trying to find saviours coming from the sky!  Sometimes people create their own gods to give meaning and purpose to their lives.  It was the same in Isaiah’s time.  The nations worshipped gods of their own making.  So the living and true God commanded people everywhere to discard these false and powerless gods and look at Him alone.  He drew sharp contrast between Himself and all other saviours.  The imaginary gods, then and now, do not tell us who we are, why we are here, and how we can be delivered from our sins.  But the one true God does.  He became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ.  Let us seek our help from Him.

“Lord, help me come to You and You alone for all my needs.”

Our only hope here below is help from God above.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27)

Life is

Life is not easy.  Problems seem to arise quite frequently and they distance us from our real role in life.  For this reason we should not focus on what is wrong but on life in general and the blessings our Lord showers us with.  We have all been created in God’s image, and therefore we are special.  How different would life be if we saw people as bearing the image of their Creator?

You, then, who teaches others, do you not teach yourself? (Romans 2:21)

Early in his life Gandhi had considered the possibility of becoming a follower of Jesus.  Attracted by His life and teachings, Gandhi attended a church service.  He later wrote, “The congregation did not strike me as being particularly religious; they were not an assembly of devout souls, but appeared rather to be worldly minded people going to church for recreation and in conformity to custom.”  Is our adherence to Christianity a matter of custom, a nice way of enjoying social relationships?  Would a stranger who is sincerely seeking a relationship with God be attracted or turned off by the quality of our worship and personal devotion to Christ? Do we practice what we preach?

“Lord, help me an example wherever I am.”

What we practice is the best illustration of what we preach.
