What is Marana Tha` Community?
Around two hundred brothers and sisters of all ages form part of the Marana Tha’ Community within the Holy Catholic Church in Malta. Our main aim is to proclaim and spread the Good News, brought about by the Only Son of God, Jesus, (John 3 : 16) to fellow men and women, youths and children, both within the Maltese Archipelago with regular outreaches throughout Malta’s and Gozo’s towns and villages and various other countries mainly in Europe, to mention but a few, Sicily, the north of Italy, Scotland, the list is endless. To help achieve this, each member within the Community seeks to fulfill one’s commitment to spiritual growth and maturity by attendance to and participation in weekly worship meetings. There one would expect to experience very powerful sessions of praise, prophecy, prayer in tongues, usually followed by truly inspired teachings, occasional workshops, spiritual exercises and times of Ministry, Adoration of the Holy Eucharist and Christian Fellowship.
Marana Tha’ Community’s main charisma is to organise regular monthly Healing Services (with the approval of the Catholic Curia within the country) where people from all walks of life, are invited to “come and taste the goodness of the Lord”, through physical, spiritual and emotional healing. Many a time spiritual inner healing is followed up by members of the community who are gifted and trained to assist and help overcome aching hearts and allow Jesus to be victorious over childhood hurts and memories.
Marana Tha’ Community is led by the very able and Holy Spirit filled Dr John Bonnici Mallia MD, a medical doctor by profession, who has dedicated his life to serve the Lord in this Community since his adolescent years. He is assisted by an Executive Team made up of eight members from the same body of brothers and sisters.
Its chosen name “Marana Tha’” meaning “Come, Lord Jesus Come” has a very deep, profound, significant meaning - In itself a prayer, asking the Lord to come, for man’s life is meaningless and distraught without HIS very presence!! Indeed, only Jesus has the power of salvation in HIS blood.
What does Maranatha Community do?
As a Community it is blessed by youths and people of a more mature age, who are using their talents for God’s glory, serving the Lord, through contemporary and classical dance, drama (street theatre), and its very own Christian band mainly focused on Worship. Other teams consist of Healing, Intercession, Mercy, Evangelisation, TV Production, as well as Radio, details of which are presented on other pages in this website.
Personal commitment towards this Community gives one an opportunity to continually nourish and feed one’s soul, grow deeper in faith, hope and charity, become part of a close community offering lifelong support and friendship, ultimately be personally called to be a true witness of Christ and come to be able to imitate Jesus more and more, in the hope that others come to realise “the love that the Lord has lavished on us”, come to experience God’s immense, limitless mercy.
A couple of communities mainly geared to reach the younger generations, have emerged from Marana Tha’ Community some years ago. Several of these respective leaders fully empowered by the Holy Spirit, had originally through God’s grace started to quench their spiritual thirst and hunger, come to find spiritual growth within Marana Tha’ Community. A few other individuals have through the same Community been called to a religious life, young ladies as nuns, whereas a number of young men have been called to Catholic priesthood and are now serving the Heavenly Father through their special calling and Ministry. It is through hard work, loyalty and total commitment towards God and man, that all are now successfully and increasing in numbers reaching out to God’s beloved people who are still searching for a meaning and fulfilment to life in its totality.
